The Great Aussie Lolly Aisle

Bubblegum, Bubbalicious, Red Frogs, Liquorice Allsorts and Toffee Apple. Five scents that smell like the best aisle in the corner shop.

By Tamika · July 2026 · 5 min read

Every Australian childhood has a lolly aisle in it somewhere. Maybe it was the corner shop after school, twenty cents clutched in a sweaty hand. Maybe it was the servo on a road trip, or the mixed bag Nan kept in the good cupboard. Wherever yours was, the smell hit you before you even got there: bubblegum and toffee and liquorice all tangled together in one glorious sugary cloud.

We cannot sell you a time machine, but we can get you surprisingly close. Jaspa has a whole shelf of lolly-inspired scents, and this is the tour: five fragrances that smell like the best aisle in the shop. Fair warning, several of these live in our kids range, because apparently children get all the fun. Nothing stopping you from borrowing them.

Grab a paper bag and follow along. We are going shelf by shelf, starting with the pink stuff.

Bubblegum: the headline act

If the lolly aisle had a signature scent, this would be it. Jaspa's Bubblegum opens on raspberry and strawberry, gets a cheeky lift of jasmine and banana through the middle, and lands on vanilla tonka bean. The result is that big, pink, instantly recognisable bubblegum smell, the one that takes you straight back to blowing bubbles until they popped all over your face.

Bubblegum is also the most flexible scent in this roundup, with three formats to choose from. The wax melts are the full-strength version for your warmer. The reed diffuser is the set-and-forget option for a hallway or bathroom. And BubbleYum!, the kids room spray, brings the same happy pink cloud to little bedrooms in a couple of pumps.

Bubbalicious: the bold cousin

Yes, we have two bubblegum scents, and no, that is not overkill. Where Bubblegum is the classic pink stuff, Bubbalicious is its louder cousin, named for the chew that came in a waxy wrapper and lost its flavour in about three chews. You kept chewing anyway. That was the deal.

Bubbalicious comes as a liquid wax melt, which is the tidiest way to run a melt. A quick squeeze into your warmer, no chopping wax, and when you want to switch scents the leftover wax pops out in one piece. If you like your bubblegum turned up a notch, this is the one.

Warmer safety, quickly

Tea light burners should never be left unattended, and they belong well out of reach of kids and pets. For bedrooms, especially kids rooms, an electric warmer is the safer choice because there is no flame to keep an eye on.

Red Frogs: the party bag legend

No lolly aisle roundup is complete without the red frog. The lolly that got counted out into party bags, traded at school for two snakes, and eaten head-first by absolutely everyone. Jaspa bottled that jelly-sweet raspberry vibe as Frog It Like It's Hot, a kids room spray with a name that deserves its own round of applause.

It is made for kids bedrooms, which makes it perfect for the post-play-date air reset or the sock-drawer situation nobody wants to discuss. A couple of sprays into the air, aimed away from faces, and the room smells like the best party bag on the street.

Liquorice Allsorts: the one Nan guarded

Liquorice Allsorts were never really for the kids, were they? They sat in a bowl at Nan's place, technically available but heavily supervised, all stripes and layers and that unmistakable aniseed-and-coconut smell. You either loved them or you handed yours to your grandfather. There was no middle ground.

For everyone in the loved-them camp, All Sorts of Awesome is your spray. It is the grown-up pick of this roundup, in the main Jaspa room spray range rather than the kids line, and it wears that sweet liquorice character proudly. Spritz it in the lounge and wait for someone to say it smells like their grandmother's good lolly bowl. That is the whole point.

Toffee Apple: show day in a bottle

Last stop, the show bag pavilion. Toffee apples were the treat you got once a year at the local show, a whole apple in a hard red shell that threatened every baby tooth you had. Sticky fingers, sticky face, best day of the year.

Apple of my Toff-Eye is that memory as a kids room spray: crisp apple wrapped in sweet toffee, minus the dental risk. It is a ripper pick for kids rooms heading into show season, and honestly it works anywhere you want the house smelling like a day at the Ekka. As with all the sprays, keep it away from eyes and skin, and store it out of reach of young children.

Build your own aisle

The fun of these scents is mixing them through the house the way a mixed bag mixes lollies. Bubblegum melts in the lounge, Red Frogs in the kids room, Liquorice Allsorts for the grown-ups' end of the house, Toffee Apple on standby for when the season rolls around. One quick tip: your nose stops noticing a scent you live with every day, so rotate a couple of these and each one will smell brand new every time it comes back off the bench.

And if the lolly aisle theme has you hooked, the range goes deeper. Cola Bottles, Fairy Floss and Musk Sticks are all sitting on the same shelf waiting for you. But that is a story for another post.
